Xiao Ge Zi offers a straightforward, no-frills Chinese dining experience right in the heart of Valencia’s Extramurs district. Located on C/ de Pelai, this family-run spot leans into authenticity without pretension, attracting a mix of locals and Asian visitors who seem to appreciate its honest approach to Chinese cuisine.

The atmosphere is functional rather than sleek — think simple interiors where the focus is on the food rather than elaborate design. It’s a good option for casual dinners rather than special occasions, especially for those who want to explore regional Chinese flavors beyond the typical dishes found in many European Chinese restaurants.

Looking over the menu, items like Exquisitas Berenjenas, Steamed Fish, and a range of spicy dishes such as Chicken with Chillies and Ternera Con Salsa Picante stand out, reflecting a palette that doesn’t shy away from heat or balance. The inclusion of ramen, gyozas, baozi, and rollito primavera introduces a modest breadth of Chinese and pan-Asian comfort foods. Those who appreciate a good kick will find the Salsa Súper Picante a signature feature to spice up their meal.

The place has earned a reputation locally for its salt and pepper ribs and sweet and sour pork, both described as crispy and flavorful, which confirms a kitchen confident in traditional preparations. It's the kind of spot that works well for groups who want to sample a variety of dishes rather than a quick solo lunch.

Service here is down-to-earth and responsive, offering a familiar dining rhythm rather than formalized hospitality. Patrons mention an approachable staff and prices that feel reasonable for the quality and portions served. It’s one of the rarer places in the neighborhood where you might find a genuine Chinese dining experience without the overly sweet sauces or heavy fry common in more tourist-targeted venues.

With a modest, comfortable dining room and the option to bring your own drinks, Xiao Ge Zi fits well with those who enjoy exploring ethnic cuisines on a budget, or who want a quieter alternative to the more crowded Asian eateries nearby. Early evening or weekend visits may be best to avoid the busier lunch rush seen at other local spots.

In summary, Xiao Ge Zi is suited for diners seeking authentic Chinese dishes with a bit of spice, served without fuss, in a humble neighborhood setting. Locals and travelers who appreciate honest flavors and straightforward execution will find something worthwhile here.

Best Chinese that I've ever been to !!! Not only was the food excellent but also the prices and the staff. If you're looking for food that is worth your money, there is no better place in Valencia! Also, they are known for their "Costilla agridulce" which was incredible. I'd travel back to Spain just for them ribs... :)

Did not intend on eating Chinese food in Valencia but it was opposite our apartment. It looked clean with a few Asian people dining, so we took that as a good sign. We ordered beef ho fun noodles, salt & pepper ribs, Chinese spinach and chicken and almonds. Everything tasted authentic and not too salty or gloopy. It was way better than some of the restaurants we've eaten at in New York and London Chinatown. An unexpected surprise and would definitely recommend.

Good spring rolls. The sweet and sour pork was very crispy and good. Loved the fried rice. My friends ordered a seafood dishes and they added extra chillies that my friends got. The food is mediocre but I don't mind going again. They let us byob !

One of the best places in the zone. The other places around are always rammed but this one is overlooked. You need to know the highlights of the menu for the best experience, lovely, humble, family run place
